A drink with Wil Hodgson

Image
First comedian: Wil Hodgson, Chippenham, Wiltshire - 27/01/2012 I had first seen Wil Hodgson many years ago in Edinburgh, during the festival, admittedly I was fairly drunk, but I distinctly remember being blown-away by him, he was amazing. I had heard his name online, but had never seen his act before, it was most definitely a highlight of the festival that year. For those of you who are not aware of Mr Hodgson, (shame on you), he is an amazing story-teller, a brilliant stand-up, specialising in material involving such subjects as his collecting of My Little Pony, Care Bears & Rainbow Brite toys, Chippenham and various other anecdotes, etc, his act is hard to describe really, it's a "must see" act, genuinely. I had been a fan of his for many years, in fact, that year, when I got back from Edinburgh, I e-mailed him asking for his autograph, and he very kindly obliged. Now, I knew he was obviously nice, (he did send me a signed pic), but I couldnt help being a bit ne...

I got mail! (full of questions, which I shall now answer)

I had forgotten to log into my e-mail account up until five minutes ago, I do check it very regularly, but in this instance I had forgotten for a few days, so I was amazed that some people had e-mailed me via this site asking me questions about this mission of mine, (I was amazed mainly as I've not met any comedians yet, so there's not a great deal to question me about), but glad I have people reading my blog, so thanks mystery people. I shall be meeting the first comedian in my quest in just over two weeks time, the amazingly funny Wil Hodgson, which I'm really excited about, but I'll go into greater detail about that after I've met him, (so be sure to check back people), so onto the questions...... Question 1: "great idea, but if you only have 12 fave comedians and 1 of them says no, surely the bet will be over wont it? - Martin" Well, yes, or at least it would be if I only had twelve favourite comedians, there are many, many, many comedians I like, ...

The mission/ bet, it's a bit of a long shot to be fair, but enjoyable!

Last year, my wife made a bet with me that I wouldn't be able to grow a beard for a year with shaving it off, or even trimming it.....the end result wasn't pretty, because despite my hair being brown and my eyebrows being blonde, my beard turned out to be bright ginger...and no moustache grew, leaving me looking extremely amish, (not that there's anything wrong with looking amish, but I'm not, so it wasn't a good look). This year however, she made a completely random bet with me, one that I was eager to take on....the bet is as follows; I must meet 12 of my favourite stand-up comedians for at least half an hour, have a drink and a chat with them, conduct an impromptu "interview" with them, in their local, (or a venue of their choice), and this must be accomplished over the course of the year. The number twelve was picked as there are of course twelve months in a year, so that's one comedian per month. I thought this was a reasonable bet, especial...
